SPAN 307 History and Politics of Mexico
Reflective Narrative
3.1 In order to complete MLO 3, I took SPAN 307: History and Politics of Mexico. When I took this course I began to gain a better understanding of the Mexican people and their history. Prior to this course I did not know much about the history of Mexico other than a few things about the native tribes such as the Mayans, and that some point Mexico was a territory of Spain. However, after I took this course I began to understand various cultural aspects of the Mexican people including Mexican-Americans. I began to understand how the Spanish conquest had influenced the Mexican society to this day.
3.2 Furthermore, in the SPAN 307: History and Politics of Mexico, we not only learned about the history of Mexico but we often made comparisons to the history of the United States, also since there were two other Japanese majors in the class, the professor also sometimes asked us how the Mexican history and culture also compares to Japanese history and culture.
